Position Title: Category Manager

Job Description
As a Category Manager, your role is to support restaurants in strategically sourcing and managing great products at a commercial price that gives Nando’s a competitive advantage. Under the guidance of the Category Leads, you will oversee the fresh produce category and be responsible for maintaining supply of those products within your portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities within the overall categories to improve customer satisfaction, pricing and operational efficiency
- Understanding the supplier and commodity markets so price negotiations are informed and competitive
- An input into developing suppliers in a way that improves product price and innovation
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders to understand their plans at an appropriate stage to influence those plans commercially
- Managing NPD/EPD through the stagegate process from idea to launch
- Influencing the operational teams to execute the right operational standards consistently
- Driving our supply base carbon footprint down by 50% over 10 years (2030); working with our sustainability partners
- Accountability for your category P&L and balanced scorecard of measures
- Developing exit strategies for unsuccessful products and/or suppliers
- Supporting directly and indirectly the Category Team to hit required targets
Requirements:
- Experience and accountability for Category P&L from a similar role
- An ability to think strategically and execute that strategy consistently over time
- The ability to influence internal stakeholders and external suppliers to achieve the best commercial result
- Experience in managing suppliers, building relationships with them, managing conflict, driving those relationships forward over time
- An ability to analyse data and insights to determine industry and consumer trends to inform strategic development
- An ability to negotiate, including negotiating contractual terms
