Job Description

There is an exciting opportunity to take up a Senior Library Assistant – 27 hours per week role, covering Cinderford, Coleford, Lydney and Newent Libraries. This role is available on a fixed term contract or secondment basis for one year.

Responsibilities:

• This is an opportunity to contribute to the success of the 4 Libraries in the Forest of Dean.
• Put your energy, creativity and drive to work helping develop these Libraries, including opportunities to assist the Team Leader in developing our services, activities and customer engagement. A desire to develop your skills as a step on the way to Team Leader and an aptitude for supervision, management and leadership is key to the role.
• The ideal candidate will also be innovative and proactive, with excellent people skills who shows commitment to delivering high performance.

Requirements:

• You will help manage day to day services and supervise the team across the Libraries.
• You will provide direct customer service as required and be responsible for the deployment of staff and for maintaining good relationships with partners and volunteers. A willingness to build partnerships with schools and within the local community is vital to the role.
• Customer service experience is essential and experience in managing or supervising staff would be an advantage.
• You will need to deal with multiple priorities and demonstrate the ability to work under pressure.
